Summary: The Photo Exhibition "The Rough Road to School" was
presented by OCEF Northern California Chapter (OCEF-NCA) jointly with
Chinese Californian Camera Club (CCC Club) and
www.chinesephotographers.net (CPN) on 6/25/05 at Milpitas library.
The Photo Exhibition presented hundreds of never-shown-before pictures
taken by OCEF volunteers on site-visits to the hinterland of China.
It revealed another side of China, where millions of children drop out
of school each year because their families cannot afford the annual
school fee of $50.
The event drew extensive pre/post event coverage from various local
Chinese media including 5 major newspapers, TV and radio in the Bay
Area.Chinese news paper World Journal even published a whole page of
special report for OCEF-NCA. It did not only tremendously raise
public awareness of those needy kids in China, but also instantly
attracted new donations ($6000) and volunteers into OCEF.
