Welcome to the website of Overseas China Education Foundation (OCEF)!
Formerly known as SOS China Education Fund (SOSCEF), OCEF was registered in Texas in April, 2001. OCEF's mission is to raise fund to support education, especially to help the disadvantaged children in the vast rural areas of China obtain basic education. Since its inception, OCEF has sponsored more than 26,000 Grade 1-9 students and over 2,000 high school students who may have otherwise dropped out of school to continue their education.
The main features of our organization are as follows:
1. Independent: OCEF is a non-governmental, non-religious, and non-partisan organization, whose sole focus is on education.
2. All-volunteer driven: Volunteers carry out all OCEF operations including fundraising, student evaluation, home visit, field inspection, fund distribution, student mentoring, book donation and distribution, etc.
3. Guaranteed delivery: We are proud of our volunteer network, which extends from big cities to small villages in China and ensures that funds are delivered to the children in need.
4. Low operational cost: The operational cost only accounted for less than 2% of the total funding of OCEF in 2007, one of the lowest among peer organizations.
