在短短一天时间内，共计有314位捐款人捐款$44065，帮助OCEF赢得$5406的匹配基金，以及$2500的最高捐款额奖金和$2500的最多捐款人奖金。其它498个参赛项目，最多只有121个捐款人，最高仅有捐款$25065。在大家的热情支持下，我们遥遥领先！

We did it, again! On June 25, OCEF won the Microsoft YouthSpark Bonus Day competition hosted by GlobalGiving.org.

In just one day, we received donations from 314 donors, totaling $44,065, which earned us $5,406 in matching funds, $2,500 in prize for most funds raised, and another $2,500 in prize for the most donors. Among our competitors, the next highest total donation was $25,065 and the next highest number of donors was 121. With everybody chipping in, we were way ahead of the game.

We are so proud of our loyal donors, and of the grass-root nature of our team! We will make sure that all of the donations will be used properly and distributed to the areas and children most in need. Thanks again for all your support! We also want to acknowledge our gratitude to GlobalGiving.org and the Microsoft Corporation for the awards and the matching funds. In the past 10 months, OCEF has received more than 1,000 donations by way of GlobalGiving, totaling over $118,000.

又逢一年一度的高考放榜时，今年好消息接踵而来：OCEF资助的张小双同学取得619分的高分，勇夺黑龙江延寿中学第一名。小双的双胞胎哥哥张大双同学也取得了590多分的好成绩，远远超出黑龙江省一本线。

张家的经济条件不好，吃穿都很拮据，但是两个孩子都勤奋好学、聪明懂事、体谅父母。他们省吃俭用，将从小学到现在用剩的课本、作业本都攒了起来备用。2011年OCEF义工走访的时候发现，两兄弟暑假在家除了帮忙做家务外，还帮助亲戚家的孩子辅导功课，闲暇时间还将初中中考时候没有做完的各种复习题、资料重新做，温习巩固。他们的妈妈一说到这些就流泪，觉得这么好的孩子应该生在个好点的人家。

2011年春季，大双出了车祸，腿部骨折。因为肇事司机是个农民，也没钱赔偿。父母只好将大双送到当地的小门诊治疗，为此家里还借了很多钱，连春耕的苗都无法购买。OCEF的义工自发捐助，帮助他们渡过难关。在这么艰难的环境下，两个孩子在同年的中考依然取得了优异的成绩：大双是全县第十三名，小双是全县的25名，双双进入县里的精英班。

从2009年第一次走访张家到现在六年多来，无论是见面还是打电话、短信，OCEF的义工随时都能感受到两兄弟的积极和乐观。哥哥说喜欢看侦探推理的小说。弟弟说，不喜欢看红楼梦，说那是女孩子看的。他看过《钢铁是怎样炼成的》，还向同学借了很多科普类书籍看，还喜欢看一些和学习相关的名著小说。

感谢这些年来一直关注和支持这两个孩子的所有善心人士，并祝愿大双和小双顺利入读心仪的大学，开始人生旅程全新篇章！

Great news comes one after another when the college entrance test results are released. Zhang Xiaoshuang, a student sponsored by OCEF, received a high score of 619, which leads all graduates from the Yanshou Senior High School in Heilongjiang. His twin brother, Zhang Dashuang, also scored over 590, well above the baseline for first-tier colleges.

The Zhang family has been in challenging financial situations, but both kids are great young men who are smart, hardworking, considerate and so frugal that they have saved all of their textbooks and exercise books since elementary school. When OCEF volunteers visited the Zhang family in the summer of 2011, they observed the brothers helping with household chores, tutoring their relatives’ kids on their homework and, in their spare time, reviewing materials for the high school entrance test that they had not been able to finish earlier. Tears came to their mother’s eyes when she talked about the twins, saying that they deserved a family in better situation.

In spring 2011, Dashuang fractured his leg in a traffic accident. There was no compensation as the liable driver was also a poor farmer. As a result, Dashuang was only treated in a local clinic and the family had to borrow a lot of money. In the end, they had no money left even to buy seeds for the planting season. Volunteers of OCEF organized donations spontaneously and helped the family out of the difficult situation. In that year, both of the brothers got exceptional results in the high school entrance test, with Dashuang ranking No. 13 in the county and Xiaoshuang ranking No. 25, and both were admitted to the gifted program by the county.

Since the first visit in 2009, the volunteers have always been impressed by the Zhang brothers’ positive attitude, whether through meeting in person or via phone calls or instant messages. Dashuang loves reading books of the detective genre, while Xiaoshuang prefers books about war heroes, popular sciences, and self-improvement.

Many thanks to all the warm-hearted people who have supported the Zhang brothers, and best wishes to both of them for enrolling in their dream schools and starting a new chapter of their lives!

从3月中开始，OCEF发起了为受助教师和大学生征集闲置的智能手机、数码相机、平板电脑或笔记本的活动。消息一经发出，得到了义工和捐款人的积极响应，并通过他们在各自的亲朋好友中广为宣传，反响热烈。到目前为止，已收到5台数码相机、13部智能手机和19部笔记本， 其中1台数码相机、6部智能手机和10部笔记本已经送到了山西、广西、贵州和京郊各学校的老师手中。

这些电子设备不仅可以帮助受助教师和基金会保持顺畅的沟通，提高他们的教学热情和水平，还可以帮助我们的一线协调员用简单便捷的设备拍照反馈受助点的项目进展和学生学校情况。对于考上大学的受助学生来说，这些电子设备缩小了农村大学生和其他同学之间物质上的巨大差距，减轻由此而产生的心理落差。

因此，我们再次呼吁：如果您有闲置但还可以正常使用的智能手机、数码相机、平板电脑或笔记本在一个角落蒙灰，请考虑捐给OCEF，我们会让它们继续发挥作用，并定期公布电子设备募集情况以及分配去向。本次募集的主要用于资助教师和考上大学的受助学生。合格电子产品除可以正常运转、带充电器之外，还要求：

1. 手机：能安装并使用微信和QQ，可以拍照，并且是非绑定运营商（unlock）的，GSM制式（使用SIM卡）为佳；
2. 平板电脑：可以拍照；
3. 笔记本：速度和内存可以运行MS Office软件；

In March 2014, OCEF launched a program to collect used smart phones, digital cameras, tablets and laptops for teachers and college students sponsored by OCEF. The initiative received great responses from our volunteers and donors, and from their friends and families through their promotion. So far we have received 5 digital cameras, 13 smart phones and 19 laptops. Among these, 1 digital camera, 6 smart phones and 10 laptops have been distributed to teachers in various schools in Shanxi, Guangxi, Guizhou and the outskirts of Beijing.

Not only do these electronic devices help maintain better communication between OCEF and the sponsored teachers while enhancing the teachers’ passion for and ability in teaching, but they also enable our frontline coordinators provide photographic feedback from sponsored schools. For the students going to college, they help reduce the disparity between modern gadgets enjoyed by these students and those common among their classmates from more affluent backgrounds, and thus contribute to closing the psychological gap.

If you have a used smart phone, digital camera, tablet or laptop that is still functional but is only colleting dust somewhere in your house, please consider donating it to OCEF. We will make it useful again, and we will periodically publish information on the collection and distribution of the electronics. The intended recipients are mainly teachers and college student sponsored by OCEF. For a device to be suitable, it needs to be in good working order, come with a charger, and meet the following requirements:

1. Smart phones: capable of running the WeChat and QQ apps, with camera, unlocked (i.e., not limited to a specific service provider), preferably GSM-compatible (with SIM card);
2. Tablets: capable of taking photographs;
3. Laptops: capable of running the MS Office software.

There is no requirement on battery life.
